And His Mother’s Name Was…..

by | May 13, 2018

2 Chronicles 24:1  Joash was seven years old when he began to reign and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His Mother’s name also was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.

As I have been reading through the Old Testament one thing that has really stood out to me in Kings and Chronicles is every time a new king is mentioned it also states; and his mother’s name was…… and then it goes on to say whether or not the king did “that which was right or evil in the sight of the Lord”. I know not everyone reading this is a Mom but I do know that everyone reading this has a Mom and today of course is all about Mom’s wherever you turn. Mom’s play a big role in the lives of their children, I thank God for my godly heritage, the older I get and the more “mom’s” I meet the more grateful I am for the example of my mother and my grandmother! I have been fortunate to have great women in my life, were they perfect? No, by no means and trust me just like all of the rest of us they made their share of mistakes, but they loved the Lord with all their hearts.  Being a Mom is a tough job and people will be talking years after you are gone about how you did ~ follow God’s direction for your family, do your best and let God do the rest!

Now, I know not everyone has been fortunate with how they are or were raised but you have a choice in your future and the influence you will have on those around you. I chose after many years of trying to deal with some of the things in my past to finally talk to a counselor to sort things out instead of just dealing with it. I would encourage anyone of you who have pain or struggles that stem from your past to get some counseling. There are great resources available for you if you just go to The American Association of Christian Counselors website at www.aacc.net and click on the tab at the top of the page that says Find a Counselor.  Don’t miss out on the good that God has in store for your life because of mistakes others may have made in your life.

If you are praying to have the opportunity to be a Mom today, I can honestly say I prayed for you first thing this morning! One lady wrote to me several months ago and her heart was broken over not having been able to conceive and my heart absolutely broke for her and I have determined to pray that God will bless her and anyone else reading this study with the opportunity to be a godly Mom in a child’s life!

Let’s all take the time today to be thankful for our Mom’s even if it is only for the fact that she gave you life. She may or may not have done everything right, but she chose to give you life and to love you in the only way she knew how. Maybe you have a godly woman who isn’t your real Mom but she has certainly played a huge role in your life, thank her today for her influence. Find a Mom today, maybe it is a single Mom who won’t get anything today for Mother’s day and find a way to bless her in a special way in Jesus name.
