Luke 10:27  So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’”

When we are hurting or struggling it is easy to become very self centered not only in our prayers but in our “every day” attitude.  God has shown me over the years that when you are hurting or struggling the best thing you can do for yourself is to find someone else to bless!  In the “natural self” that makes no sense at all but as the Bible says, “His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways.”  When we do things His way we find answers, peace and the relief we are looking for.

Bill and I have both been facing serious health issues with our Mom’s lately.  It is real easy to feel like my hurt is supposed to be number one on my list of priorities, but according to this verse that isn’t true!  If I love Bill as I love myself then his pain is just as important to me as mine and really that is supposed to spread beyond our homes to those around us.  It doesn’t mean we put ourselves “in their shoes” because God doesn’t give you the grace to deal with the pain someone else is suffering.  It means we treat those around us that are suffering the way we would hope someone else would care through our suffering, be kind and considerate and let them know you care, pray for them!

When we become self centered in our pain we block out the opportunities for God to work in our lives and to give us the full strength we need to get through.  Some of the greatest strength you will find is after you have focused on someone other than yourself when you are hurting.  It is amazing how you can walk away feeling empowered and refreshed after helping someone else get through their time of need during that time when you need someone to do that for you!

Help is on the way!  God isn’t over looking your need but His help may begin by giving you someone to help!  Pray for an opportunity to reach out to someone else in need today!  Ask God to help you stop focusing your prayers only on yourself and show you who to pray for!  Then please send me your prayer requests for YOU and allow me to pray for you today too!  If you ever message me or email me and don’t hear back please feel free to email me again to be sure somehow I have not missed it!  Let’s start today and be Jesus to someone around us – reach out and bless and be blessed today!  Make a difference in someone else’s life today and watch as God makes a difference in yours!
