Are You in The Wilderness Today?

Exodus 13:17-18  When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near.  For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.”  But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea.  And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle.

There are times when we may think we are ready for “battle” or we may think that someone else should be ready for the “battle” but God has a different plan.  Sometimes we may think we are ready for the next level and yet God chooses to lead us through the “wilderness” because there are still issues in our lives we need to face.

The Israelites needed to learn to trust God more.  They needed the experiences of God providing every little thing for them in order for their children to grow up to take the Promised Land.

God also knew that the Israelites had been so beaten down in Egypt that they needed Him to just love on them in the Wilderness.  Have you felt that way?  Have you felt like life has just beaten you down so much that you don’t have any fight left?  I’ve been there before, where you just feel as though you have had everything come at you from every side for so long that you just don’t have the strength to fight any more.  God wants to love on you and He will go before you and fight for you and prepare the way if you will just rest in Him and allow Him to lead you through this “wilderness” journey.  The Wilderness is not always meant to be a bad time, a lot of times it is really meant to be a time of healing and a time to face those things that we normally want to overlook and pray they just go away.

If you truly want the will of God for your life and you want to “go to that next level” then when you find yourself in the wilderness of life, look to God for your strength and ask Him to show you what you need to learn from this experience.  God is good and He always has a purpose for where He leads you just like He led them through the wilderness instead of taking them straight into battle, He knew they weren’t quite ready.  Trust God that when it is time for your Promised Land He will bring you to it and do your best to learn all that you need to learn so you are prepared when you get there.

There wouldn’t be much worse of a scenario than to go through the wilderness like they did and then miss out on the Promised Land as a lot of the Israelites did because they were just too hardened from life in Egypt to allow God to move in their lives to the point of trusting Him when they were faced with their Giants in the Land of Promise.  God knows what Giants are going to be in your path and He wants you to be prepared for them so trust that all that He is doing in your life today is preparation for your life tomorrow.  It may not seem as though you are getting closer but you are.  Every day and every step as you learn to trust Him more and you seek His face more is one day closer to your Promised Land!  The best is yet to come!
