Are You Just Not “Feeling” The Love Today

by | Mar 9, 2013

1 John 4:11-12  “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”

Do you know someone that in your eyes isn’t loveable?  Maybe some days it’s your spouse, or your best friend or coworker or your neighbor that allows their dog to come to your yard to do their dirty work or tear up your yard.  We all have our days where someone has either hurt us or annoyed us to the point where we are just not feeling “the love” for them at the moment.  This verse tells us how to love in spite of ourselves and others.

When you aren’t “feeling” love for someone else, you cannot allow your feelings to dictate your life and or your behaviors.  If you don’t “feel” it then ask God for His love for that person!  We are human and we do have earthly issues and that means there will be days when we don’t feel like having the right feelings or attitudes and that is when it is absolutely vital that we ask God to love through us and to give us His attitude for our situation.

This verse is very clear that if we love God and God lives within us then we have the ability to show His love by our love for each other and His love can be perfected in us if we allow Him to perfect it.  There’s no better way to reveal God to others than to show His love.

If we allow Him to, God can give us the ability to love when we don’t feel loved or don’t feel like loving and He can give us the strength to forgive when forgiveness isn’t “deserved” and He can show us how to help restore those who need a second chance and give us His love to help them through.  God loves us and wants to show His love to others through us.  Pray today and ask God to fill you with His love so it will just flow over to those around you.
