Are You Sure What You Are Saying About Her Is True? Have You Asked Her?

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

So, how are your “words” doing today? Are they acceptable to God? We have all had those moments when we have uttered words that we knew afterward should never have come out of our mouths! It is one thing though when you slip and say something and then try to make it right and you ask forgiveness, it is another thing when you start spreading rumors and gossiping about others. The amazing thing about gossip is that everyone knows it is wrong, we are called to be Holy because He is Holy and we probably sin more often by what comes out of our mouth than we do any other way! So, in other words, while you sit and talk about what you heard about that other lady, whether or not it may or may not be true (I have found most gossip to be exaggerated truth or purely lies made up by someone who is jealous), the sin lies at your door!

When you hear something about someone, if it disturbs you so much you need to talk about it, go ask the person who can do something about it ~ the one it is about! Go to her if you are a friend, but make sure God is leading you and that you are not trying to cause more pain, but ask, don’t just assume and certainly don’t continue to spread it! Before you speak what you heard you may want to be sure that it is true and you may want to just run it by God to see if it is ok with Him that you are repeating it.  Some of the most hurtful things that go on between women is gossip and 9 times out of 10 it is about something that isn’t even true! If it is true, maybe she needs a godly woman to walk with her through it.  I have been on the other side of those words too many times and it can be very damaging! I have had to tell myself over and over that they will answer to God for the lies told and that God will be my defender. I don’t understand why people want to believe the worst about someone else even if it isn’t true! Crazy!

Now, if you are having to deal with this and you are on the unfortunate receiving end of someone’s gossip, the best thing I have found to do is just continue to do what you are called to do and let God sort them out! It will all come back to bite them in the bum some day but until then just hold your ground as a godly woman and don’t stoop to the level of retaliating. If Satan can get you worked up to the point where he can make what they are doing your focus then he hinders your mission for God. Hold your head high and continue to press forward. God will reveal truth and He is the only one whose opinion of you truly matters. He sees it all and He will take care of it! Truly the best is yet to come!
