Are Your Words Today Powerful or Powerless

Proverbs 18:21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Vain stupid useless powerless negative words grieve God!  Do you ever just have those days where you realize that your mouth is stuck in a rut and all it is doing is spewing out negative garbage and you aren’t too sure how to stop it?  I have had those moments where I knew that I was doing it, but I just kept going and at the same time wondering why I wouldn’t or couldn’t stop.  I didn’t need anyone else around to beat me up because I was the heavy weight champion that day, knocking myself out!  My issue when this comes up tends to be with myself, unfortunately some people are great at doing this to others.  This truly grieves God because we do have a choice and He does give us the ability  to stop, one of the benefits of having the Holy Spirit live within the Christian is that He will give you self control if you ask for it.  Your “emotions” of the day do not have to rule over you, you can choose to say and do what is right no matter what storm rages within you.

Don’t ever say, I’m too fat, I’ll never lose this weight,  I never do anything right, I’m not pretty, I’ll never get that job!  Words are a container for power!!  There’s more power in your words than you realize! Be careful what you are speaking over yourself and your family!  Don’t ever tell your children or spouse they are dumb or they will never accomplish anything.  Don’t give Satan a foothold in your home by agreeing with him about you or your family.  When we say things like this we are walking hand in hand with Satan instead of God helping him destroy our families – is that really what you want?  Today is the day to make a change in your words, if it doesn’t line up with what you think Jesus would say if He were standing there then keep your mouth closed – we do always have that option.  We need to talk to ourselves and others with the respect we would want from someone else and we need to recognize anything other than that is straight from Satan.

Ephesians 4:29-30  Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

According to the Bible we will give an answer for every idle, powerless, useless word we speak!  If you are struggling with negativity get in your Bible more and talk to God about it then speak it!  God has promised Healing for our mouths if we give Him control!

Proverbs 16:24   Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
