Be Known As A Woman of Your Word

John 8:32   And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

Just how important is the truth to you?  I would imagine that when it comes to someone else talking to you it is very important, but how important is it for you?  The verse before this one says that if we abide in His word we are His disciples and then it goes into this verse to say that then we will know the truth and the truth will set us free!

Freedom doesn’t come from lies, lies put us in bondage.  Once again the ‘father of lies” Satan deceives by telling us that if we just lie we can get out or stay out of trouble when in reality it is the truth that sets us free.  I have yet to meet anyone who is actually as good a liar as they think they are, seriously lies are always revealed in the end. I remember years ago an older woman talking about lies and she made the comment that  people don’t stop and think about how much more difficult a lie is to maintain because one lie leads to another and another and then you have to remember them all so you can keep your story straight – what is worth all of that trouble when the truth will set you free from it all?

Satan’s goal is to snare us by thinking that a lie is a good thing when really his goal is to get you in as much trouble as he can and it all starts with a “simple, little” lie.  He never has your back with a lie!  He wants you to lie to the people around you so they won’t trust you on any level.  Respect from others comes with telling the truth and being known for being a man or woman of your word.

If you struggle in this area start by asking God to forgive you and give you the strength to always tell the truth in love.  Pour yourself into His word like the verse before this one says; John 8:31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.” 32 and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”  You can be free by knowing and speaking and living the truth and it starts with “abiding in His word”.  Victory over any sin starts in scripture and forgiveness.  You can have victory today!
