1 Kings 19:11 – 13   And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.”  And behold the Lord passed by and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.  And after the wind an earthquake.  And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.  And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.  And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.  And behold there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here Elijah?”

Are you looking for God in all the wrong places?  Have you prayed and prayed and feel as though He hasn’t shown up in your circumstances?  Maybe God answered your prayer just not the way you thought He would.  I have had times when I had everything all planned out for God and how He could “fix” my situation and low and behold He decided to do it His own way!  Hmmmmm, Imagine that – God having His own plan and not needing my input!  I had the “fire, wind and earthquake” all planned out for Him to use in my situation and He decided to use a still small voice instead!

Are you there now or have you been there?  This may be a good time to stop and realize that God already has a plan and you will know it when you see it!  Elijah could tell that God wasn’t in the wind, earthquake or fire and with all of that commotion going on He was so in tune with God, even though he was pouting in the cave, that He knew God’s voice when he heard it.  Maybe God’s plan for you is so much better than what you have planned that you are refusing to recognize it right now.

If you don’t feel as though God is showing up, don’t lose heart.  Your hope is in God and He will bring it to pass so get ready and look for Him to show up in His way and His time, not necessarily yours.  Listen for that still small voice.  Know that He has your best interest at heart and the best is yet to come!
