Joshua 7: 19-21
Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord God of Israel and give praise to him. And tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.” And Achan answered Joshua, “Truly I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and this is what I did: when I saw among the spoil a beautiful cloak from Shinar, and 200 shekels of silver, and a bar of gold weighing 50 shekels, then I coveted them and took them. And see, they are hidden in the earth inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”

How might this story have turned out if Achan had confessed instead of burying what he had done? If he had gone to Joshua when he got to the point of thinking of burying it in order to hide what he had done and if he had just confessed and said, “here is what I took, we need to destroy it.” He may have saved his family as well as his own life! His entire family paid the price for his selfishness and sin.

The only way to find healing, restoration and the blessings of God are through confessing your sin to God and those you have sinned against that are paying the price right along with you. You may think you are hiding what you have done or are doing, but God will reveal it and just like Achan, you would be better off confessing before God has to do that!

We all want God’s blessings on our lives! Too many people want to think that you can just snap your fingers and because you say the right thing at the right time or you just believe hard enough that you will receive all of Gods goodness and that is not true! You have to choose to live right first! The Bible is very clear about living the life we are called to live in order to be blessed by God. If you are living that life and you are walking with Him then yes, I do believe that God’s desire is to bless your way and He will help you to be successful in His calling for your life! He loves you! He also loves you enough to do whatever it takes to bring you in to line with how you are supposed to live! If you are hiding sin in your life and you think He is just going to look the other way because you have somehow justified it in your own mind, you are sadly mistaken! If everything is going wrong around you, then there’s your clue! (Now, don’t mistake what I am saying here, there are times when it seems as though everything is coming against you and nothing is going right and that could be a bootcamp training you are going through vs. discipline ~ only you and your spouse, if you have one, know) Don’t get angry with God if things aren’t going right and yet you know you have un-confessed sin in your life!

God wants you to live a life of victory and that begins with obedience! Achan’s sin was causing defeat in the entire camp! Men lost their lives because of him. What will it take for us to live godly lives so we can have victory in every area of our lives and we can shine His light in this dark world? God wants His best for you and those you love. Start today by confessing to God and asking for His forgiveness and then go to those you have sinned against and confess, asking for their forgiveness as well. You cannot mend those fences in your life, or have the blessing of God when you know you are hiding sin in your camp!

If you know that you are following God and yet your marriage and finances all seem to be falling apart, ask God to reveal the truth. Ask Him to bring any sin to light that is being hidden so healing can begin. Truly the best is yet to come if we will just follow Him!
