Don’t Let Others Ruin Your Day

Philippians 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.

One of my areas of biggest struggle it seems over the years is allowing others behaviors ruin my day.  It is such a roller coaster ride to start the day out great and then someone says or does something that just sends you into emotional turmoil on the inside.  Why are we sometimes so quick to allow someone else to have that much power over our day?

Happiness is a choice but only when we don’t allow others to rob us of our joy.  That can be easier said than done sometimes when someone hurts your feelings, but if we don’t feed the negative feeling and we take the time to pray about it and ask God to help and heal the hurt we will eventually get to the point where we don’t wear our hearts on our sleeves.

There’s no one that is greater to hang around than someone who is generally upbeat and positive and there’s no one worse to be around than someone who is always down and negative.  We have to choose which we will be.  Don’t get me wrong the very worst person to hang around is someone who is faking being nice and or happy as well, that isn’t the goal.  We always want to be genuine in our behaviors, but it is seriously time to get ahold of our emotions and not allow them to run us.

The key is to give God every area of your life and to ask him to show you truth and help you to discern when your emotions are taking over and running the show instead of a godly character.

“The happiness of most people we know is not ruined by great catastrophes or fatal errors, but by the repetition of slowly destructive little things.” Ernest Dimnet
