Don’t Miss Church Tomorrow

by | Apr 4, 2020

Psalm 122: 1. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

Hebrews 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Getting together and worshipping the Lord is not just something we are doing for God it is for us.  It is a time for growth, a time for healing.  It is a time to come together to worship Him and praise Him for who He is.  We all need to take the time to learn more about who He is.  Our faith grows the more we learn and the more we praise Him, reminding ourselves of who He is. Don’t neglect this time because of a quarantine.  You can choose your service online these days and you could actually be a part of more than one service if you so desire.  Our church is doing ZOOM and it’s great to be able to see everyone worshipping together and there are other churches that are holding online services, but there is no reason at all to miss church because you aren’t able to go to the building right now.  Our youth are even doing ZOOM to keep in contact with each other, it’s been great!

When we were doing Xtreme Youth Alliance one of the articles one of our staff posted one day on our website that he found that a lady had written on going to church looked great until you got into the middle of it.  She somehow felt that church was like “sprinkles on a donut”  there was no real need for it and it was something good to throw into your life here and there where you could fit it in without inconveniencing yourself.  She felt that going to church on Sunday was not nearly as important for her as working in her garden because she liked working in her garden more than going to church.  Needless to say, it came off our website about as quickly as it went up.

Going to church and attending other programs and studies the church has to offer is something that is needed for all of us.  We have not “attained”, we will always have room for more spiritual growth.  We need to come together to pray for each other and to hold each other accountable.  When we praise God it fills a huge need in our lives, reminding ourselves of all He is and all He has done.  Take this time to develop your prayer life.

Are there things wrong with “the church”?  Of course, because it is made up of imperfect people.  We all need to be a part of attending and doing our best to make the church all God created it to be.

If going to church seems like drudgery to you then please pray that God will give you the heart to go.  Pray that He will show you where you can serve Him in your church and what activities you need to attend to help in your walk with Him.  Do you have to go to church to have a relationship with Him?  We can have a walk with God without attending church but whenever I see that happen it seems as though the person always feels like there is something missing that they can’t seem to put their finger on.  God wants us to come together and encourage each other and help each other grow up in Him.  Pray today for a love for attending church and serving Him on a deeper level.  When this quarantine is over choose to come out of it closer to God and eager to get back to that church building to serve Him together again!  His best is yet to come!
