Follow His Plan

by | Mar 2, 2020

Isaiah 30: 1-3  “Ah, stubborn children,” declares the Lord, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin; who set out to go down to Egypt, without asking for my direction, to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!  Therefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame, and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation.”

So, before you make that decision, have you talked to God about it?  Have you asked Him about His plans, or are you just dead set on what you have decided?  It seems crazy when you think about how the Israelites were so quick to run back to Egypt after having been slaves there, but we all seem to do the same things at times.  We like to go where we think we will be “comfortable”.  Looking at it from this distance we can wonder why they would ever choose a land of slavery and abuse over the Promised land of God, and yet we can still find ourselves doing the same thing.  Ask God what His plan is before you head out if you haven’t already!  Don’t make this decision without Him!  Certainly, don’t run back to your “Egypt”!

God wants His best for you and that doesn’t always come easy, but trust me, going your own way isn’t going to be easy either, so do you want to go it alone or walk with God?  Verse 16 in this chapter says, For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”  Just how much strength do you have to be able to go it alone?  Don’t you want God’s strength and direction instead?  I have tried to do life alone before and let me tell you that can be disastrous!  It may look good and sound good, but is it really good?  Is it really what God has planned?  Have you asked Him?  One of the wonderful things about knowing that you are following Him and His plan is that you can walk in confidence that He will guide you and see it through!  You can trust Him.

God cares about every detail of your life and He wants to be a part of it!  He wants to bless your efforts to serve Him, so if you aren’t sure what it is you should do then find your strength in returning to Him and waiting on Him, just be quiet and rest for a moment.  Let go of being frantic and trust Him that He’s got this and He has a plan that is much bigger than anything you can see or imagine and in that big plan of His, He has a plan for you ~ Jeremiah 29:11!  God knows, He sees and He has a plan so before you bolt out of the gate to do your own thing, make sure it is a part of His plan because that is where you will find His best!

How do you follow his plan? I desire to do this but just don’t know what to do.

Hey Roberta, Following God is a day by day choice and it begins by asking Him to lead you and show you what His plan is for your life. If you have accepted Him as your Savior that is the first step. Spend some time reading His Word, even if it is just a verse or two in the beginning and do it every day. John is a great book to start with or Psalms, but start somewhere and ask Him to guide you. He loves you and wants a close relationship with you but it requires spending time with Him, just like any other relationship.
