Give Them Hope

Judges 2:10

And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel.

No matter who you are you have a responsibility to help teach the next generation about God. Let’s face it there are parents out there who aren’t going to do it, so someone has to! We have some people in the schools that don’t believe and they have no problem influencing the children there while the teachers who are Christians have their hands tied. Everything is backwards these days and we need to teach the next generation every opportunity we get so they know the truth.

Verse 11 of this chapter goes on to say, “And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals.” It was to their detriment that the generation before them did not embed in their minds while they were growing up all the things that God had done. God had told them: “You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates,” Deuteronomy 11:18-20 God warned them and He is warning us to do the same!

So, you don’t have children you say, or maybe yours are grown and you have been there done that; well, that isn’t an excuse. Churches are always begging for help in the nurseries, and children’s church and with the teens ~ get involved so the kids can learn and so can their parents! We all need to do our part. We need to be looking for opportunities to teach the young and help guide them to the truth! You don’t want to see the next generation as a completely godless generation so it will take everyone who believes getting involved.

If you do have children, if you aren’t already doing this, I would encourage you to lay the ground work to reach your children’s friends that may not be saved or maybe are growing up in a home where God is ‘optional’, if they spend the night on Saturday then they have to go to church with you on Sunday. If they don’t have a youth group offer to take them to yours ~ yes, it is inconvenient but tell that excuse to God when you get to heaven……. I don’t think it will fly. Make it a point to reach those kids that come into your home.

We all need to ask God to give us a passion to reach and teach others. We need to encourage parents to bring their children to church. We need to encourage parents to teach their children and we need to be willing to help wherever we can as a service to God. Ask God to show you today how you can help Him reach this next generation for Him!
