Give Those Resolutions To Him

Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

The New Year is almost here! What are your plans? Do you make resolutions for the New Year? Are there things you are determined to accomplish in the next year that you missed this year?

Let me encourage you to take your resolutions to God. Don’t spend your time getting weighed down with your struggles. Don’t allow the things you struggle with become your focus, you could miss out on what God has planned for you. Focus on Him, take all that needs to change, whether it is in you or it is around you and give it all to Him. Take this new year and focus on your walk with God! Focus on becoming more like Him by spending more time with Him. There is certainly nothing wrong with having New Year Resolutions but the way to have victory in those areas is to give them all to God

Mark 7:20-21 says, And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,” When we fix our hearts and they are filled with God then our struggles with the sin in our lives is taken care of. God is the only one who can change you or anyone else. All of the work in the world to fight that battle you are facing is futile if you are not changing what is in your heart. God can change your desires and your thoughts, spend time with Him learning to think the thoughts He has for you and you will find your desires for sinful things will diminish. Before you get out of bed in the morning pray , “Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Your success for anything that needs to change in your life will come from spending more time with God! It is pretty simple really, there’s no where in the Bible that says, work, work, work and then you will have victory over your struggles in life. Over and over God says, “come to me”, “give it all to me”, “let Me change your heart.”

God wants you to have victory in this New Year as well so take it to Him and if there is a resolution you want to make to change things in your life please begin by determining to spend more time with God this year! Start there and He will give you the strength you need to make whatever changes need to be made and He will guide you through it! Allow Him to fill you with His passion for what He wants to do in your life! Focus on Him, not the problem and you will find the victory you have been looking for! Instead of spending time focusing on trying to change yourself, spend more time with God and allow Him to do the changing!

“The core problem is not that we are too passionate about bad things, but that we are not passionate enough about good things.” Larry Crabb
