God is Preparing You for Greater Things!

Joshua 23:6-8

Therefore, be very strong to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, turning aside from it neither to the right hand nor to the left, that you may not mix with these nations remaining among you or make mention of the names of their gods or swear by them or serve them or bow down to them, but you shall cling to the Lord your God just as you have done to this day.

The Israelites had victory in the Promised Land because they clung to God and trusted Him to deliver their enemies into their hands.  Joshua was encouraging them in these verses to continue to cling to God and to remember His word so they would not become like their enemies following their gods and forgetting God and all He had done.

We will always have enemies and there will always be storms in our lives here on earth.  When they come who or what do you cling to?  Do you draw closer to God and pour yourself into His word or do you cling to your anger and frustrations allowing yourself to behave in ungodly ways just like the people around you?  Don’t lose yourself in your situation!  Allow God to draw you close and help you to be all you are supposed to be in Him.

The way to become better and not bitter in any situation is to draw close to God, remember all He has done for us in the past and spend even more time with Him in His word.  Take those difficult people and situations and make it a time to grow in Christ.  We have all been in those situations where someone just knows how to push every button you have until you realize you are becoming someone you don’t even like.

Your situation hasn’t taken God by surprise so don’t allow it to take you to a place you don’t want to be.  Cling to HIm today and know that He has a plan for you – a great plan and you don’t want to miss it because you have “mixed” with the people who have created havoc in your life to the point that you have lost yourself.  Allow Him to be your comfort and your strength and you will have victory that is beyond anything you can imagine just like the Israelites did.

Remember this; sometimes God allows people and circumstances in our lives to make us uncomfortable enough to get us motivated to move.  There are times we become so comfortable in our situations because we have “lived” there so long that He knows the only way we will move forward in life is for Him to allow the uncomfortable.  So, keeping that in mind; cling to Him and allow Him to prepare you for all He has in store for you and to mold you through this to be all you can be for Him!
