God’s Favor

Genesis 21:22  At that time, Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army said to Abraham, “God is with you, in all that you do.”

Who doesn’t want to have a life that screams that God is “with you in all that you do”?  Who wouldn’t want God’s favor to the point that when others look on they can see it?  Well let’s go back a few chapters to chapter 17 and see what God told Abraham back there:  verses 1-2, When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty, walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”

God wants to show His favor on your life to the point that others see it but not just because you ask for it.  He wants to show His favor because that means your life is a beacon for what it looks like to walk before God and to do His will and you do your best to walk blameless before Him.  God loves you and no, He isn’t asking you to just do “good works”, He is asking you to have a heart that honors Him.  Actions come from all that is inside your heart so if your heart is right with God then your actions will reveal God to others.

It isn’t about determining to “do things right”, it is about giving all that is in your heart to God.  Our prayer every day needs to be Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”  Everything flows from our hearts, our attitudes, our words, our actions, so if our hearts are right with God and we are not harboring sin there that we don’t want to let go of, then our attitudes, words and actions will be right as well.  Don’t get me wrong here, I am not saying we “earn God’s favor”, I am saying though that you can’t live like the devil and expect it!

God loves you so much and He wants you to live a life that will draw others to Him.  He wants to bless you and guide you but you have to be willing to allow Him to do that.  Abram wasn’t a young man when God came to him and told him to walk blameless before HIm, he was 99 years old.  You are never too old to be all that you can be for God and to be used mightily by God for a greater purpose than you have ever been used before, God isn’t finished with you yet, so finish all that you are called to do strong!

Ask God today to reveal to you any areas you haven’t totally given to Him that is hindering your walk and surrender it all to Him today!  The best is yet to come!
