God’s Love

Psalm 86:5    For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

God loves us all and He will meet us where we are.  God is a holy God and to think that we could work our way into His grace would be a mistake.  God’s grace, love and mercy reach out to us to draw us to Him and to make us more like Him!

Do you need a ‘knight in shining armor’ to rescue you today?  He loves you and He cares about all that you are facing today.  There is not a tear that you shed that He doesn’t notice.  We can call out to God when we are hurting, frustrated and confused about our direction and we should also call out to Him when things are going great and we don’t really have anything weighing heavy on us.  His steadfast love means that He wants to be a part of all that you do.  He enjoys your good times and will be there to carry you through the bad.  Don’t walk through life alone when you don’t have to!

Do you see that person on the street asking for work, food or money?  This verse applies to them as well.  Do you look down your nose at them or turn your head as you walk or drive by or do you show the love of Christ?  You may be the only Jesus they will see so based on that, will they want to know Him?  There are people out there who are asking God, not even knowing for sure who He is, to show them that He is there and that He cares and you could be that person God wants use to show them a little kindness.  That doesn’t mean you have to get out of your car and beat them with your Bible and certainly don’t hand them something telling them about God if you are not giving them food or money, it means – do something instead of ignoring that they have a need.

God has called us to be His hands and feet and to show the world His love.  How will they know if we don’t show them.  Ask God to show you wherever you go today who and how you can show the love of Christ to.  A lot of times we miss the little things like the cashier at the grocery store, does he or she see you and know that you are different and more friendly and kind than most people they deal with?  How about your server in a restaurant, do they see you coming and want you at their table?  Take a look around there’s always someone who needs to be shown God’s love.  Ask Him today to guide you to be His hands and feet and to have His love for others!

I love the idea of giving a Christian tract to someone I give food or money to — but would like to give out small Christian comics. I have ordered all the Chick tracts and have yet to read all of them, but by far most of them use hellfire as the “motivating force” and I am so not into that kind of approach. Do you know of any Christian tracts that use a more positive approach?!

I am not sure where to find a good one, but I will look into it. I have seen people just hand out tracts to homeless people or servers at a restaurant without a tip or any type of help and that doesn’t show the love of Christ. I think a tract with a donation is a nice idea so I will see what I can find.
