Psalm 73:25
Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.

Earlier in this Psalm the Psalmist talks about how irritated he was that the wicked seemed to flourish. Apparently he figured that if people were wicked God would keep them from being successful, there is a difference between being successful in the world’s eyes though and having the blessing of God on your life! He fussed and carried on about it though to the point of wondering what good it did him to “keep his heart clean and follow God”. Oooooo, ouch! Have you ever been there? Have you ever asked what good it does to live right and follow God because you don’t have everything you want or things seem to be such a struggle and you are frustrated?

In verses 16 and 17 he found his answer: “But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.” He was irritated and frustrated about it all to the point where he didn’t even have the energy to try to figure it all out and then he went to the House of God and found his answer there. Where do you look for your answers? How do you feel about the “House of God”? I hear so often, “well, I don’t go to church because well ‘the church hurt me’ and most of the people there are hypocrites anyhow. Hmmmmm, it always makes me wonder if they still go to work when they work with lazy people or people that hurt them and stab them in the back. I wonder if they have a perfect family or if they just turn their backs on friends and family too when they get hurt. One thing I do know is that people are just too easily offended these days. Now, don’t get me wrong and I am not making excuses for those churches out there who need to get their focus back to what God has called the church to do, no, there is no excuse for allowing Satan to have that foothold in your church. There are some seriously messed up churches out there, sad to say, but there are also many, many churches who are doing things right, maybe it’s time to find a new church. Don’t give up on God and all of the other believers out there because you have experienced some crazy people, if there isn’t a church that you can find in your area then at least start a Bible study with some friends and family.

On another note, when you take a look at your circumstances when you are struggling, instead of getting angry, understand that God often allows those tough times to make you stronger and to grow you into all you can be for Him. If you are facing the same things over and over, ask Him what you need to learn from it. Always know too that God sees, He cares and this season isn’t here to stay forever, it came to pass! The best way to get through any struggle in life is to get to the point where your focus is God and He becomes bigger to you than anything else in life, bigger than your problems, bigger than what you want, bigger than those people who annoy you, bigger than your marriage and financial issues, you fill in the blanks. God cares deeply and your answers for life will always be found in Him if you seek Him with all your heart. Don’t give up because of what is or isn’t going on in your life, know that if you follow God the best is truly yet to come. Allow Him to become your all, just like this Psalmist did and you will find the peace and answers you are looking for.
