Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

How do you see God? Is He brutal? Is He just waiting for you to do something wrong so He can pounce on it and discipline you? Do you see Him as distant, not really caring what goes on in your life because you feel insignificant? Or, do you see Him as a loving, caring God who sees and hears and is by your side, walking through life with you, wanting to be a part of every detail, just like a loving, protecting and uplifting God?

We all know that a lot of our outlook on God can come from our opinion of our relationship with our Dad and that can either make our walk with Him closer or very distant if we allow it to. That thought process can be very difficult to overcome, if you aren’t aware that is what is holding you back. My children always felt as though their Dad was very distant in their lives, but let me tell you what; they had a very active Papa (Grandpa)! When we lost my Dad, the loss to me and my children was overwhelming and devastating! To them, they lost the only really close loving ‘father figure’ they had and of course to me he was my Dad. As a old friend of mine once put it, “it wasn’t just that we had lost someone we loved so much, it was that we lost someone who loved us that much!” My point here is this: maybe you weren’t close to your Dad and maybe you weren’t able to have a loving grandfather(hopefully you did), but God still loves you that much! He wants more than ever to fill that role in your life! Don’t push Him away, He wants to show you that kind of love! He wants you to draw close to Him so He can be your refuge and strength! He never intended for you to face life alone! He wants to face each and every day with you, experiencing your joys and to carry you through your sorrows! He loves you more than humanly possible!

No matter what you are facing today, turn to Him! Give Him everything that is weighing you down today and allow Him to be your refuge and strength. Don’t go it alone! Let Him wrap His arms around you today and carry you through to the other side!  The best is yet to come!
