James 5:12  But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Are you someone that keeps their word?  In other words, when you say something is it something you stand by or does everyone know that it is subject to change?  Are you someone who can be counted on by your friends or do they hear the words you say and wonder if you mean them.  God knows your heart!  With Him, there is no “fake it till you make it scenario.”  He’s not impressed with your flippant flattery and He will hold you accountable for every idle word!  

Matthew 12:36, But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”  If you are living just for what others think about you here on earth with no consideration of eternity and how God feels about your behavior, then you have way too small of a view of eternity with Him!  

1 Samuel 16:6 – 7, “When they came, he looked on Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.”  But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him,  For the Lord sees not as man sees:  man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  Be like David, so when God looks at your heart, He likes what He sees!  God has a plan for you but it isn’t one where you spend your days concerned more about what people think than what He thinks!  Choose to live for Him and not others!

Listen, the freedom you will find when you let go of what others think and whether or not they like you will refresh your spirit!  The only thing that really matters in life is what you do for God and how you follow Him!  It is His opinion of you and how you live and what you say that matters in the end.  Honor Him in all you do and then you will find His blessing and peace in your life!  He created you for great things but it starts with your heart and your words! Your words, whether they are true or just meaningless verbiage, will reveal what is in your heart! So start today and seek God with all your heart!  Invite Him in to reveal to you what needs to change!  Don’t hold anything back and don’t worry about what others may think, it is His opinion that matters!
