How Close is Your Walk With God?

Exodus 19:18-21    Now when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightening and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far off and said to Moses, “You speak to us and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.”  Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you that the fear of him may be before you that you may not sin.”  The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.

Moses had a close walk with God so even though God was revealing Himself with thunder and lightening and loud trumpets he wasn’t afraid.  He knew God.  God had provided for Israel in amazing ways and had delivered them from Egypt when they prayed but they were still missing a relationship with Him.  They knew God was with them and they could see that He “walked” with them everyday through the wilderness; a pillar of fire by night and cloud during the day, and still they never really walked with God.

How is your walk with God?  Is God trying to reveal Himself to you in mighty ways and still you miss really seeing Him?  God was revealing Himself in a mighty way so they would get the idea that they were dealing with the Almighty God so they would have victory over the sin in their lives.  Sometimes all we need to do in order to have victory over sin is understand who we are sinning against and remember just how powerful He is.  God’s so gracious that He was willing to reveal Himself this way instead of revealing Himself through discipline.  How often does He do the same for us?

Don’t miss seeing who God really is today!  Allow Him to show Himself in Mighty ways and then allow it to really sink in that He cares so much for you and He will guide you in all that you do if you allow Him to.  All God wanted was a close relationship with the people of Israel and all they did was complain and found new ways to sin against Him.  They really acted like spoiled rotten brats instead of grateful children of the Most High God who delivered and provided for them.  Be careful today that you don’t miss out on the incredible relationship you can have with God.  Stop for a moment and reflect on ways He has revealed Himself to you and the deliverance and provision He has given you!  Pray and ask Him today to help you see Him for all that He is in your life so you don’t miss another minute of closeness with Him!
