John 18: 28
Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters. It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor’s headquarters, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover.

So typical, it is no wonder Jesus called them all hypocrites and vipers. Here they are condemning Jesus, knowing He is innocent and rejecting Him as the Son of God, they didn’t want to lose their importance or position, but they made sure they didn’t enter the governor’s headquarters so they wouldn’t be “defiled”. They were not serving God! Everything they did was self-serving! They were “bearing false witness” so they weren’t even regarding God’s commandments, but they were certainly mindful to keep up the outward appearances.

All of the outward pretense in the world is not going to justify you before God! As it says in 1 Samuel 16:7, But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” Saying and doing all of the “right things” may make you look good to other people, but God still knows the truth about your heart condition. Serving God while you choose to cheat on your spouse or gossip or steal, etc., may make you look good to other people, but God will shine His light on the truth!

It is so much easier to live a life that is truly pleasing to God than it is to live a lie! God will give you the strength to live a life that is right and godly but He will not help you live a lie.

True beauty and honor come from the inside! It is what is in your heart that will shine through whether that is godliness and beauty or sin and ugliness! We have a choice!

I would like to encourage each of us to be real! Live lives that are pleasing and honoring to God! Choose to live a life that will draw others to Him. If you or someone you know have been living a lie it is your choice to make things right. Nothing will ever be right in your life until you do. If you know someone who needs the encouragement to make things right and you are in a position to speak into their lives then do so. There are no benefits to living a lie! At some point, if you don’t straighten it out, God will reveal the truth. He is a loving and gracious God, but He is a Holy God and will not tolerate our choosing a life of sin forever! Choose today to be all that God created you to be so you can live a life that has everything in it that He has planned for you! He loves you so much, choose to honor Him today with the truth!
