Luke 18:9-14
He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt:

“Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus; ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other, For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

No matter where you are or what you have done, God loves you more than words and if you humble yourself and ask for forgiveness, Jesus blood covers that sin to the point of God never looking at it again! God would like to take where you have been and make something beautiful out of it! He wants to turn all that ugliness you have had to face and make your life something that reflects His handiwork! God’s grace is sufficient to heal your wounded heart and to use that thing for His glory!

None of us have anything to be proud about. Pride is something God despises, that is why Jesus is telling the people here not to get overly proud about their “righteousness” because it is only when God works in and through us that we are truly “righteous” in His sight, it is nothing we can do on our own, so there’s really nothing to get too proud about is there? If you have been fortunate enough to not have had to go through horrific struggles you are called to reach out in humility and gratefulness for all God has done!

God’s love and mercies are for everyone! It is not God’s will that any should perish! (2 Peter 3:9) God loves you and He loves all those around you as well. Ask Him today to allow you to be His hands and feet to reach out to those who need Him too! The best is yet to come and maybe for someone out there you are the one bringing it by the grace of God!
