2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.

I love Spring with everything fresh and new, the grass is green again and the flowers are starting to bloom. I think this year, more than ever, everyone across the nation has been eagerly anticipating Spring! With Easter coming up it reminds me of the same feeling I have about Spring. Jesus death on the cross was a chance for everyone to have a new beginning. Because of His death we can have a fresh start, a new beginning with no mistakes in it and everything is fresh and new. When your sin is forgiven it is behind you ~ leave it there and grab ahold of that fresh, new start! Don’t allow your past to hold you back from your future!

As you do your “Spring cleaning” this year I would like to encourage you to ask God what you may need to clean out of your life on a spiritual or personal level. Ask Him what new things you may need to add. Maybe it’s time to start that Bible study you have been contemplating, maybe it’s time to begin a new ministry reaching out to the elderly or single parents in your church. Maybe it’s as simple as adding time to your evening to read and pray with your children before bed if you aren’t already doing that, maybe it’s time to start having devotions with your spouse. Whatever you may need to add or get rid of, do it and don’t allow another year to go by just continuing on doing the “same ol’, same ol’” thing! Take advantage of that fresh start today.

Maybe you know of someone who hasn’t had that “fresh start” in life and they don’t know God. Sunday would be a great opportunity to ask them to go to church with you, a lot of people will go for Christmas or Easter that will not go any other time so you might as well take advantage of asking them, you never know.

God loves you enough to have sent His son to die on the cross for your sin and to give you that new beginning, don’t allow Satan to throw your past in your face any more ~ you are a new creation, old things have passed away and all things have become new. Be all you were created to be in Him!
