2 Chronicles 6:18  But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth?  Behold , heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!

Solomon had just built the “house for God” when he made this statement.  He was in awe of the fact that God was willing to live among them when Solomon knew that God could not be contained in the entire universe let alone in a house.  Solomon had the right view of who God is, he saw God as bigger than anything, and he understood the vastness of who God is.  That is why when God asked Solomon what he wanted from God, Solomon asked for wisdom.  He knew God could handle any problem that came Solomon’s way but He wanted the wisdom of God to lead His people in the right direction.  Solomon knew that if He led the people in the ways of God everything else in his kingdom would fall into place.

I think sometimes we take the fact that the Holy Spirit of God lives within us when we accept Him as our Savior for granted.  Where do you take Him?  When you need wisdom for a situation do you think about the fact that God lives within you?  How amazing is it that we don’t even have to go to the church to be in the presence of God, He resides with us.  Are you in awe of that fact or is it really no big deal on a daily basis for you?  When you face struggles today are they too big to deal with or will you go with the confidence that your God cannot be contained?  I love the song “Sing Along” by Sixteen Candles.  I love the line in that song where it says, “The way the moon pulls the oceans tide – you are never contained.”  The song is such a song of praise of the power of God and how even the universe understands the magnificence of God and His power.

We have those everyday Mountains in our lives that can overwhelm us if we are not careful to take it to God and ask for His wisdom and power in the situation.  I long for the day that the mountains are removed but I know that right now they are there for my growth and in some cases it could be because we built  the mountain ourselves and now need the power of God in that situation to lead us out of the mess we created.  Don’t underestimate Him today in your situation.  Read Psalms and or listen to music that attests to the greatness of God and His majesty!  Fill your thoughts and heart with the awe of just who He really is and watch as your mountains melt away in comparison.  Stand back for a minute and look at your problem this way;  pick out a big object you can see out your window across a field or down the road and then hold your thumb up and compare the size – you know that the tree down the road is bigger than your thumb but when you step back and hold it up in comparison it doesn’t look all that big,  now if you will look at that mountain in your life and hold your Bible up and some praise and worship music like you did your thumb you will see that your God is by far bigger than your mountain.  When you start getting down today about it all, hold your thumb up and remember, you have the Almighty, All Knowing Incredible God of the universe on your side, nothing can compare!  He cannot be contained so what is that mountain to Him?  Do all that you can in your situation and then watch as God does the rest!

I am dealing with some mountains for sure, and some days are better than others leaving it to the Lord to deal with. My oldest son is going down the path of alcoholism which his father is now in prison due to so many DWIs. I hate seeing this, but I have to believe the Lord will turn this around! God is so much bigger than all this mess. He is so awesome! I know I know i have to do my part too. I can’t get caught up in the negativity, as that is Satan’s desire for me so I will get my eyes off God. Thank you Janet for your devotional. I look forward to it everyday!
