Proverbs 31: 25 – 28
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
Have you ever heard the phrase, “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!” Well that is the truth! Women set the tone in the home, now don’t get me wrong, I know there are times when women live with abusive men and are not in a situation to set any tones where he is concerned, but she can still set the tone for her children by not taking it and finding a shelter or a church or someone to help get her out! Your children will follow your lead whichever way you go.
If you have a good home then the tone is definitely set by you! I have seen when I am having a hard day and I have watched my husband and children change their tune accordingly and when I straightened out my attitude it took a little longer for them to change back, but they did. Our moods set the mood of the household, crazy as that may seem. In fact I’ve had some days where I have just wondered where I need to go to just have a bad day without everyone else turning into grumps too?! I am sure on those days my family would love to send me to a desert island to be grumpy alone but that isn’t going to happen. So, this is one area that we just need to keep in mind, that hormones and all, our moods affect more than just ourselves! It is necessary to be kind and to be able to laugh at our selves and the days ahead.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. I’m thinking – THEY BETTER! The best thing we can give our children and husbands is a life of examples on how to live a Godly life! If you are single, then the best gift you can give yourself and God is a life lived that will be a shining example to others. Deserving respect comes with the price of living the example.
