1 Samuel 12:23

Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way

Intercessory prayer is clearly something that God expects us to do for each other.  Jesus prayed for us in John 17:15 when he asked God to not take us out of the world but that he would keep us from the evil of it.  We should never take prayer lightly especially since Jesus was the shining example of how important prayer is!  We have a direct line of communication with God.  It is strange that most people would brag more over having a direct line of communication with the president than they do communication with the one who created him.

Let me ask you this ladies; if you had a friend and their life depended on getting a drug approved by the government and your Dad was the President of the U.S. would you ignore the need?   Worse yet would you tell them “hey, don’t worry I’ll talk to my Dad about it for you”  with no real intentions of doing so because you were so used to people asking you to talk to your Dad about seemingly important things?

When you say you will pray for someone then do it!  If you don’t have any intentions of praying for them then why would you say you will?  If you have difficulty remembering all the prayer requests, stop and say a prayer for them right then or as the commercial says, “there’s an app for that!”  I have an app on my phone to record prayer requests and I need to use it more.

This verse doesn’t say, “God forbid that I should sin against YOU, it says sin against the LORD!  Those are pretty strong words if you really think about it; when you say you will pray for someone think about those words for a minute and I bet you will remember them in your prayers later.

Praying in itself is a grand privilege, praying for others is even more of a privilege, let’s not take it lightly.  Think of the lives that can be changed if we come together and look for opportunities to pray for each other!  My prayer for each of you today reading this is that God will raise you up to be more like Him and that you will get excited about this idea of having the chance to make a difference in someone else’s life by going to God for them!  Don’t wait, start today it doesn’t cost you anything other than a moment of your time and the difference that can be made in a life could be more than you could have ever imagined.  Stop being selfish and take the time to really care and pray with and for those around you.  God has put them in your life for a reason so I would encourage you to rise to the task; the best place to start is prayer.
