Job 32: 2-5 & 10

But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God.  He was also angry with the three friends, because they had found no way to refute Job, and yet had condemned him. Now Elihu had waited before speaking to Job because they were older than he. But when he saw that the three men had nothing more to say, his anger was aroused.  Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me; let me also declare my opinion.

It is amazing how much Job’s friends had to say during his time of torment but there is a lesson to be learned here ladies; we need to be careful when and how we share our opinions!  There are times it is better to just keep quiet even if we feel justified in our opinion.  For one why did his friends feel the need to make sure that Job understood that in their eyes the only way he could possibly be going through everything he was going through was if there was some sort of sin in his life?  God did not place us here to be the judge and jury; He leaves us here to accomplish His will for our lives, not to pick apart the lives of others.  It is ok to have an opinion and to learn from mistakes we feel others make but it is not always right to speak our opinions!

God will let you know when He wants you to speak and when He doesn’t if you will listen to His leading.  Some of us ladies are very opinionated women!  I know this because I am!  When I was younger I used to feel I needed to prove I was right in my opinion if anyone disagreed with it and one day God really convicted me for doing that.  In Proverbs the Bible tells us that it is quite often better to keep quiet than to speak our minds.  Bill laughs at me if I watch the news because I get so irritated with our politicians and my favorite women are very strong, Christian reporters, but I can get really fired up and that is why I avoid getting into political conversations.  If I get caught in one, I may make a comment or two if asked but I will not argue my point.  I take a strong stand on important issues and can make it clear that I believe in absolutes of right and wrong and that everything I believe I base on Biblical truths but I am not going to get into a debate of he said/she said about politics or anything else.  Life is too short to waste it on words that can be left unspoken.

Now, on the other side of the coin; do you say the things to others that would lift up and encourage?  Sometimes we miss opportunities to build up others just because we get too busy!  I would encourage you to start today with your family, see how many positive things you can find to say to your spouse, children, siblings and or parents and watch their reaction!  If we focus on good we can do with our words instead of seeking out the opportunity to correct and defeat we will be amazed at just how much happier we are ourselves!  Be a positive influence in the life of at least one other person today and see how it encourages and blesses you today!
