Ladies Bible Study Friday, March 9th It’s time to Let Go of The Hurt!

Colossians 3:12

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

You know ladies, God doesn’t enjoy seeing us go through hard times but He does know that hard times will come and he does like to see us behave well through it.  His desire is for us to be faithful through it and trust Him to walk with us through every storm that comes our way whether big or small.

There are way too many Christians out there that are mad all the time, we get hurt or wounded and we hang onto that hurt and nurture every hurt that comes our way until that is all we are is hurt and wounded which ends up coming out as anger and frustration.  When that happens all we seem to be able to do is lash out every time something doesn’t quite go our way.  We have to learn how to stay happy even though we don’t get our way all the time.  It’s like watching my grandchildren some days:  the youngest one who is only 13 months old thinks his world has totally fallen apart when you take something from him that he shouldn’t be playing with and yet the oldest one who is only 6 can be told something isn’t to be played with and she has grown to a point that it doesn’t bother her that way.  Have you grown spiritually and to the point that when you don’t get your own way that you don’t throw a fit or some sort of “silent treatment” temper tantrum?

In Hebrews 12:2-3 the Bible talks about how Jesus endured the cross for the joy he would obtain in the end.  “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”  If we keep our eyes on him and follow Jesus example when we are struggling we will not grow weary or lose heart.

God would like us all to take this time to grow up.  Stop giving up or quitting things.  God will walk through this with you and he will give you the strength you need even in the tedious little every day things if you allow Him to.  We would be horrified to see someone who is 20 still physically and mentally behaving like a toddler and yet we aren’t always as horrified to see someone who has been saved for 20 years still behaving like a toddler in Christ.  Ask God today to show you any areas you may need His help with and start pursuing Him with your whole heart, growth is always ours, we just need to continuously pursue it.
