Psalm 13:5-6

But I trust in your unfailing love.  I will rejoice because you have rescued me.  I will sing to the LORD because he has been so good to me.

We say we trust God, but do we really?  As long as things are going smooth I don’t have a problem saying I trust God completely but I think at times when our worlds get shattered we begin to question His goodness.

It is very difficult when you go through something that you can’t understand like a seemingly senseless loss where do you turn?  Is your faith and trust in God to the point where you know that somehow God will get you through and He will work it out for good?  With all of the sexual abuse, physical and verbal abuse that goes on around the world the question of “where is God” often comes up.  How can He stand by and watch and not do anything?

God has given us a free will and once sin entered our world along with it came the consequences of it.  Sin hurts others very seldom is it something that only hurts the person doing it.  It is like dropping a pebble in a pond and watching the ripples spread.  That is why God hates sin!  Years ago I use to teach Jr. Church and I had a classroom full of “candy lovers” so one Sunday I decided to teach them a lesson they would remember about sin.  I took a big bowl of candy and I passed it all out so they each had about 6 pieces and told them not to eat it until I said they could, and then I told them the story of Jonah and how he ran from God.  I told them every time I say the people on the ship had to throw something overboard they had to choose a piece of candy and put it back in the bowl.  I did this until they only had 1 piece a piece and I explained how everyone on the ship had to choose the same way with their valued possessions.  Sin hurts others!  (I also gave each of them a goldfish to take home afterward – I’m sure their parents loved that!)

I know that if we could truly grasp the depth of God’s love for us and really understand it we wouldn’t live in fear of tomorrow or anything that comes our way because we know Him.  God is so loving and kind and I don’t know what you are going through today but my prayer is that He will bless you beyond measure and that His love will surround you and protect you from any more hurt and pain!  May God reveal to you this day His love and grace and guide you to the answers you need for your life.  I also pray that He will protect you and your loved ones and friends and build a great wall of protection around each of you.
