Psalm 139:13-14

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

When is the last time you got up, looked in the mirror in the morning and said “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”?  Well I can say that isn’t my usual thought first thing in the morning, in fact I’m not sure I have ever looked in the mirror and thought those words BUT we are!  Think about it; when God made you He really did do an amazing job!

I would challenge you this weekend to totally change your self talk.  Just start with the weekend and go from there.  Every time you start to say, “I can’t do this” or “I look fat in this don’t I” or “I just feel worthless” or whatever your favorite putdown for yourself is STOP and remember you are talking about God’s handy work here!  Change those words to “I CAN do this” and “Wow, I am looking good today, this outfit isn’t so hot but I am looking goooood!”  And “God has incredible purpose for my life and by His grace I WILL accomplish all of it in my lifetime because He has created me with the abilities to do it!”

A good friend of mine took her husband shopping with her one day recently and as she was trying on her last sweater that she was thinking of buying she asked her husband, “Does this sweater make my arms look fat?”  And his response was, “define fat.”  Well, the funny thing is he was really just kidding and thankfully they have been married for enough years she understands his sense of humor.  The real problem is when we answer ourselves that way!  When I get on a role with my own verbal self abuse you would be hard pressed to talk me out of it on some days and I have determined in my heart to stop agreeing with Satan so God can have full access to my heart and mind, that is the only way I will ever have true victory and success in my life.

Take the time to empower yourself with your words!  Get excited because it’s true, the positive things God feels about you are true.  Those lies from Satan need to go and starting today you have victory over them by using God’s truths about you instead.  Don’t even let one of Satan’s negative thoughts take root, stop them as soon as you hear it pop into your head, they are lies!  The best is yet to come!
