Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure pressed down, and shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
How is your giving meter doing? Are you a giver or are you waiting for your “ship to come in” in order to give? When you see a need does it tug at your heart or do you immediately start thinking of what you feel you are lacking in your own life? What about your tithe, are you robbing God by not giving Him what is His?
Everyone has the ability to give something, everyone! If you don’t have money, maybe you have some time you could donate to the church or a homeless shelter or maybe you could just go visit some lonely people in your local nursing home, if you have time to give there are endless opportunities if you just look around. If you don’t really have time or money right now because maybe you are trying to keep your head above water then you can pray – become that prayer warrior that others know if they call you and ask you to pray they know it will get done.
If you have money to give well let’s face it there are endless opportunities there as well. I have heard countless people complain when they know that Bill raises money for Compassion International and we support children in other countries because they feel that Americans should be taking care of the poor in our country first, well whether they are right or wrong those same people do nothing to help the poor and needy in this country either! The Bible is clear that we are to take care of the poor and needy the widows and the fatherless children and I truly believe that is both here and abroad! We need to be caring for the homeless and the poor here and we need to reach other countries as well, the key is to do something and to start somewhere!
I would encourage you to pray and ask God today to show you where you can give and what you can give! There are homeless people all across America, there are children starving here and in other countries, there are widows and single parents needing help and guidance! What can you do? If you don’t have the burden to give or help then pray for one, God will be happy to honor your prayer and bless you as you give what you can! If all else fails try something as simple as buying the persons meal behind you in the drive through line at the fast food restaurant or if you see a poor single mom at the gas pump with a car load of children buy her gas. Go through your closets and see what clothes you have from last winter and give them to a homeless shelter to give to those in need. Take a look around……. what can you do? Don’t put it off, do it today!
