Ezra 1:3

Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem.

Cyrus King of Persia was the king after Nebuchadnezzar had carried the people away, made them his servants and burned the house of the Lord.  As you know the Israelites were rather on again off again people serving God.  One day they were doing that which was right in the eyes of God and the next thing you read is that they were doing that which was evil in the sight of the Lord.  When King Cyrus came along he told all the people of all of the kingdoms that God had given him all of these kingdoms and that he needed to rebuild the House of the Lord and he needed them to get involved.  The Israelites were scattered all throughout the kingdoms Cyrus ruled over so he was letting them know it was time to pull together and put things back in order.  Verse 4 says, “And whosoever remains in any place he sojourned, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold and with goods and with beasts besides the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.”  To sojourn means that you are not setting up a permanent residence so the people were “traveling through” so to say.  They were free to go back to their roots and pick up where they left off.

What about you, is this season of your life coming to an end?  Is there something God spoke to your heart about years ago and you just knew that it was His will for you to serve Him in some way but it has never come to pass?  You have felt like the Israelites, you just kept moving from one thing to the next but have always had this in the back of your mind but you gave up on it years ago.  Your season is about to change and it is time to ask God if this is your time” to move forward, your time of sojourning is done and you don’t want to just rest in the fact that you are comfortable where you are.  I am certain there were probably plenty of people when King Cyrus said, “Let’s go build this” that said, “you know, I am happy where we are and it’s pretty comfortable, I’m just getting to old for all of that, it would have been good back when I was in my 20’s but well you see…..”  It is never too late to serve God and God’s timing is perfect so if He hasn’t moved you until now, well Ladies there is a reason!

Don’t miss out on God’s perfect will for your life no matter what you may be thinking right now.  I would encourage you to pray and ask God if He is pushing you in a new direction and that He will keep you from missing out or making a mistake!  God has no time frame He has to work in so you can’t say you are too old, He has been around forever and He makes the rules.  So, give up your excuses today and seek Him and His direction today for today is a new beginning and it truly could be the “ride of your life”!
