Jeremiah 44:16-17  As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not listen to you. But we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we did both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem.  For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster.

It is amazing ladies how Satan can take a lie and make it look like truth and how he can turn something wrong into looking so right.  These people truly believed that even though they were directly hearing from God through Jeremiah that they were better off sacrificing to the “gods” they made up.  It’s just like the very first lie with Eve and the “Serpent”, Satan knows how to appeal to our weaknesses and he is very crafty at pulling it off.  He knows how to attack and he knows when not to attack, there are times his best tactic is to make you think you are better off when you don’t serve God, they felt their prosperity and lack of disaster came from following their fake gods, they didn’t recognize that Satan had no battle with them as long as they were already disobedient.

Just like Satan wanted to devour the people of Judah, he wants to devour you!  Don’t believe the lies!  There’s no better place on earth than in the perfect will of God.  One of the lies we tend to believe is that if we are in God’s will then everything will be sort of cushy – really?  Ask the missionaries in other countries if their lives seem cushy, ask your pastor if his life seems easy now that he is in the center of God’s will, this same concept applies to you when your marriage is uncomfortable or your sacrificing to help the homeless or giving to the poor.  Life isn’t easy but we are still called to be all we can be for God regardless, if you don’t think so then tell me what other purpose you have on earth?

God had promised blessing to these people if they would just follow Him and throw away their other gods but they felt they were better off doing what they had always done.  It was what they were comfortable with, their parents and leaders had done it and they weren’t willing to make the change even if it meant death.  What about you; are you willing to make whatever changes God asks you to make in order to better serve Him or are you set in your ways and choosing to believe Satan’s lies even if it means the death of your marriage, ministry, your children’s walk with God, fill in the blank.

I challenge you today to ask God if there is an area of your life that you are holding onto that is comfortable or a lie from Hell and ask Him to show you what changes you need to make in order to be all He has called you to be!

Quote:  “Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.”
