Jeremiah 9:5

And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

Are you a trustworthy person?  When you say something to your family, friends or spouse do you mean it or are you saying what you think they want to hear or need to hear?  So often I find that women especially are good at being sweet and kind to someone’s face and then they turn around and can be as mean as snakes behind the person’s back and we need to rise above all of that.  We need to be careful that “our yes is yes and our no is no” in other words our words are true!

Bill has been a huge blessing to me since we got married because unfortunately I came to this marriage with a lot of trust issues.  In my first marriage years ago my husband was great at saying how much he loved me and “playing the part” at home but when he went to work it was a whole different world and it was overwhelming when I found out.  He would tell me he was careful and would never have “another” affair and yet he would go to work and flirt and listen to other women’s problems until he was more involved than maybe he had intended until it destroyed him and our marriage.  Relationships take work and in marriage there’s no room for secrets or double lives and standards.  Bill has been amazing at going the extra mile to protect our marriage when he is with me or by himself right down to walking back to his hotel rather than riding with another host that is female!  Are you willing to go the extra mile when you say something, whether it is your spouse or friend or family member?  Are you willing to love others enough that you are willing to live the same life in front of them that you do behind their backs?

You don’t have to speak a lie your life can be one.  It is so important to really fully grasp the fact that God is with you wherever you go so who are you fooling?  God is the judge and the giver of blessings and whether or not your life exemplifies truth or not can have a bearing on which side of the fence you are on with Him – do you wish to have His judgment or His blessings?  It’s your choice but you need to live a life that is pleasing to Him both on and off the “court”!

Choose today to be careful that you are the godly person God has called you to be whether or not you think anyone else knows.  God knows and it can make all the difference in your future so start today, if you have been living a lie you need to ask God AND the person you have sinned against for forgiveness and move forward and do right from this moment on!
