1 Corinthians 13:11

When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

Paul must be the last man that ever did that! I’m just kidding, he is really talking here about growing up spiritually, and we need to be sure that we are always growing up in Christ and who we are in Christ.  Sometimes we get complacent and we are comfortable with where we are spiritually and we don’t see or feel the need to pour ourselves into learning and growing more.

I remember back in the day when my children were really small and my husband and I did everything in the church and looking back I think I thought I had arrived spiritually.  We ran the bus ministry in our church and I sang in the choir and occasionally a solo and I was in charge of the nursery and we helped with Awana and I taught Junior Church on top of running my own household and homeschooling my children.  The problem is that wonder woman here was so busy doing that she didn’t have much time for her own spiritual growth so when the final affair came along and I was faced with a divorce I couldn’t handle it!  My world was rocked and the rock I should have been clinging to was just a pebble in my mind and I became very angry with God.  When I finally realized that I needed constant input to grow spiritually and I got involved in the ladies Bible study at my church and I started spending every day reading my Bible and going to my small group on Wednesday and church on Sunday, I started to grow and God was able to heal my broken heart.

It’s time to grow up ladies!  We all need it, it doesn’t matter where we are in life and where we are spiritually we can still continue to grow.  The more I learn about God and my walk with Him the more I realize I need more!  Look for opportunities that God brings your way to learn more about Him.  If you don’t have a ladies Bible study at your church maybe you should look into starting one.  I would highly recommend starting with either “Captivating” by John and Staci Elderidge or “Breaking Free” by Beth Moore.  Those are both incredible Bible studies that you will love.  Don’t settle for where you are today pour everything you’ve got into learning more about Him.  The best is yet to come!
