Matthew 6:1     “Beware  of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.”

Why do you do what you do?  Are you as nice and godly at home as you are on the street or in church or are you just doing it for other people to see you?  God makes it very clear in this chapter of Matthew that we need to honor Him for Him and because of Him and our walk with Him.  If you find you are someone else in public then maybe you need to examine your walk with God.

It amazes me when I see people who look at actors and actresses and can be head over heals with them because of a movie character they have played and yet somehow they must know deep down inside that the character they played and the person behind that character are two different people probably with very little in common.  They get paid to be someone else on screen that is their job, God has called us to the task of being real!  There is no honor or blessing in “acting” like you have a close walk with Him and we should be seeking His blessing not the blessing of other people!

I would encourage you to ask God today to reveal to you any area that you are just “performing” instead of walking a godly walk.  Ask Him to help you to have such a deep relationship with HIm that it is evident at home and around others.  Dig deep and be all you are called to be so others are drawn to Him and so you can have the blessing and favor of God on your life.  God doesn’t want to see a “show”, as Samuel told Saul in 1 Samuel 15:22 “….. to obey is better than sacrifice.”
