Living In Harmony…….

Romans 15: 5-7
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

What message do we have for the world if we can’t get along? All of the arguing and fighting over every little and big thing that comes along is wrong! We are to stand for what is right and we are to love one another. There should be no prejudice between believers, there should be the harmony for the glory of God that is spoken of in these verses!

I was raised by 2 wonderful people in Northern Michigan, if you have ever been up there you may have realized that there aren’t very many diverse races up there. You have your “basic white” people and some Indians, very few people of other ethnic races and or color. I personally have some Indian on both sides of my family, but here’s the deal: you would think that would create a bunch of prejudice in people, but my butt would have been tanned if I had spoken a prejudice or judgmental word about another race. To be honest it never crossed my mind to be prejudice. I didn’t and still don’t look at people and define them by their color or race – I haven’t found a verse in the Bible that would even remotely condone that! I think that is why all of the craziness right now with the news working on making people even more racist than they have been in years here in the U.S. is overwhelming and burdensome to me! (If you watch, it really is the media ~ not the police officers, facts are facts and more white people have been killed by police than any other race ~ you couldn’t pay me enough to be a police officer right now) It absolutely breaks my heart because there is no reason for it and I can assure you it makes God very angry!

We are commanded to love one another, Jesus even stated that, we are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind and soul and our Neighbor as ourselves! That is a command from Jesus Himself and that is in the New Testament and the Old Testament, Hmmmmmmm, so there’s no room for argument or offense there! We cannot allow media dictate how we feel about each other, we need to cling to the word of God!

Now, if you are feeling the “heat” of the racism toward you or your family, let me encourage you to stand on God’s truths. Know that He loves you and cares about the hurt you feel in your heart. BUT, don’t allow this to become your focus to the point that you find yourself separating from other believers and taking offense at everything going on around you. Number one, the media is trying to make this an issue, and we all need to come together as believers and show that we are one in the Lord! Don’t allow Satan to get a foothold by making you think that everyone is against you because that is not true. It may feel like it is but that is Satan’s way of keeping you from focusing on God an all He has for you! Satan wants to get you alone! He is the great “Distractor”. I am not discounting the wrongs done, trust me, I am sure my ancestors that are Indian could have a thing or two to say about prejudice, but you can’t live there! God created you to be you and He wants to make you the best you possible, so don’t allow all this other “stuff” to get in the way of that! He loves you and will provide and take care of you!

Please, let’s meet in the middle here Ladies! Let’s all pray for this to stop and for Christians to rise up and stand for truth and justice and to love one another just like Christ loves us! Let’s not get offended at every turn. If we can truly come together and pray about all of this, God will move and you know when He moves…… the best is yet to come!
