Joshua 6:17
And the city and all that is within it shall be devoted to the Lord for destruction. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall live, because she hid the messengers whom we sent.

Let’s face it ladies, we often have a tendency to prejudge “at times”. I am guessing more often than not and you men aren’t much better but you tend to do it less with other men than women do with women. A sad and rather harsh fact is that we as women do it because other women make us feel insecure just by their presence. How is it that we can look at someone else or hear about someone else and think to ourselves, “I don’t like her!” You don’t even know why, but you don’t! How sad and wrong is that? What is even worse is when we judge, somehow thinking we are “better” than someone else based on what we have or how we look or what we know, trust me God won’t have any problem bringing you back down to size if that is your attitude toward anyone else!

When we prejudge others we are shutting down the opportunity for God to use them in our lives! Rahab was a prostitute and was probably looked down on by every person in Jericho. She was probably behind the whispers on the street, perhaps justly so, but she was still used by God. I have found that if I am prejudging another person I usually need to stop and ask myself why I feel so threatened by them and is it a legitimate threat or something I perceive to be a threat either by her success or maybe her looks, house, position ~ what is it? Having learned how wonderful God’s sense of humor is, I am learning that I could end up working very close with that person if I continue to hold on to my pre-judgmental attitude! God made her and He made her the way He did for His purpose! Stop it! Stop being threatened by His creations and realize that He did the same with you! What’s really awkward is when you find yourself in a situation where you were both judging the other without ever having spoken a word to each other! Wait, what? Yes, we do way too much of that!

You never know who God may bring into your life that He wants to use in your life to further His purpose for both of you. He may be bringing that person into your life for you to be a witness or to help them reach the next level, but don’t be so proud that you miss out if she is there to help you! Everyone of you just cringed didn’t you ~ I know I did. None of us has “arrived” yet! Often it is the area we feel best about that God is working on in our lives! We need the help of others to get us to where God wants us to be! Stop judging! Start looking for how that person may be someone that God may bless you with! Yes, bless you, often while we are cringing at the thought of anyone having any good to offer because we have already made up our minds about them, we are missing out on the blessing they could be in our lives! You never know what that person may have lived through and learned from, that will be a huge help and blessing to you! God loves you and He brings people into your life for a reason ~ don’t miss out on it because you feel threatened or too full of pride to see it! Remember what Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent!”

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it to anyone else.” Charles Dickens
