Oh Be Careful Little Tongue….

Proverbs 10:19  When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.

How often do we speak words that should never be spoken?  Funny thing but I have often regretted saying something but I cannot recall very many times when I regretted not speaking!  Once your words are out there they cannot be taken back, whether they are for someone else or yourself!  We need to be careful that our words are always something that is pleasing to God.

Words can be a tremendous blessing and encouragement or they can tear down and take years to repair.  The great thing is your words are your choice!  No one controls your attitudes, behaviors and words except you.  It comes down to how much you are willing to allow God to control your life.

Usually we look at this topic and automatically assume we are talking about how we talk to others but today I really want you to stop for a minute and think about how you talk to yourself!  What lies does Satan tell you about yourself or maybe he has used someone else to tell you about yourself that you keep repeating to yourself on a daily basis.  Don’t do his work for him!  He is out to destroy you so watch your mouth!  If you ruled a country you would never hire a terrorist that hates your country to be your right hand man and follow every thing he had to say and yet so often we do exactly that with our own lives.  We hear Satan tell us, we are too fat or needy or we are worthless and can never succeed and we will repeat that to ourselves over and over until what we have spoken becomes our reality.

Guard your mind, take charge of your thoughts and then what you speak will not be a problem.  If someone else is speaking negative garbage to you then consciously reject those comments, if it helps speak out loud the truths to counteract that they have said!  Protect yourself, you are worth it!  Don’t allow anyone else to tear you down and certainly don’t do it yourself!  Satan just sits back and smiles when he can get you to do the dirty work for him.  Stop it!

Start today and ask God for His strength and discernment to know how to control your tongue.  Pray for His truths to be evident and pray for HIm to remind you of who you are in Him!  You, after all are a child of the Most High God and He loves you and has created you to do amazing things!
