Open Your Heart Up To What God is Asking You To Do

2 Kings 6:6   Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?”  When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float.

Elisha was the man of God in this verse and one of the prophets while cutting trees to build a house dropped the head of his axe in the water and told Elisha that it was borrowed and he needed to get it back.  Now the miracles that Elisha performed over the years were much greater than getting an axe head out of the river but as you know those miracles were God, not Elisha.  Elisha loved and followed God with his whole heart which made him available for God to use him to the fullest extent that he intended.

Elisha was just a man that wanted to be used by God and God placed within him all he needed, to be all that he was called to be.  Elisha wasn’t made of some sort of special mud, he was obedient and he loved God more than anything or anyone else.  God has placed within you all that you need, to be all that he has called you to be.  Your part is to be fully open to the will of God and to use the talents and gifts God has placed within you to serve him.  God has not wasted your talents on you He has a purpose for them if you are willing and if you are willing to give Him all the glory.

Sometimes God’s answers for how we are to serve Him come in the most unusual ways.  There are times He will ask you to do something that you will want to stop and scratch your head and say, “really”?  Bill and I were doing youth ministry when I felt God was asking me to start writing Ladies Bible Studies.  I remember thinking, “me God, you want me to write Ladies Devotions?”  Hmmmmmm, that was not something I grew up thinking ‘when I grow up I am going to write ladies devotions’, I thought I was going to work with teens.  Just like Elisha though, it is God who works within us to do what He has called any of us to do and once you get that concept embedded in your mind it frees you up to do anything He calls you to do.  Part of the reason God does that is so you will fully rely on Him to do what you are called to do.  He wants to be needed in your life and He wants to show Himself mighty through you as you do what He calls you to do.

So, if there is something you feel called to do and you are afraid of the opposition or afraid that you aren’t really “qualified” you are probably called to do it.  Let go of your fears and put your faith in God and ask Him to open doors as He sees fit and guide you into all you are called to do!  Don’t miss out on the best that God has for you!  He has placed within you all you need and if you reach a point that you need more He will give you all you need to accomplish His will.
