Genesis 40:15
“For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the pit”

Do you feel like no matter what, you just seem to go from one pit to the next in life? Joseph first had to deal with his brothers throwing him in a pit and selling him to traders who were on their way to Egypt, then Potiphar’s wife lied about Joseph and his character and he was sent to prison for something he didn’t do. He must have felt a bit frustrated because one day he was in his father’s house and had some pretty incredible dreams about his future and the next thing he knew he was just surviving going from one pit to the next. In all of this though, Joseph was faithful.

There are pits in life, it happens to everyone we just have different “pits”. The key is this; it isn’t about whether or not you will find yourself in a pit one day, it is how you will handle it when you do. Joseph chose to remain faithful to God no matter what and God blessed all that he did whether he was in a pit or not. Joseph probably missed his home and his Dad but he didn’t sit around wallowing in self pity he kept pressing forward doing his best in all that he did and as a result he went from this last pit to the palace!
Genesis 41: 14, “Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit and when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh.” Verse 38 says, “And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” 39 – 42, Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you”. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

Don’t underestimate where you are headed. God can take whatever is thrown at you and turn it into so much more than you could possibly plan or imagine! Trust Him in all that you do and spend your time growing and pressing forward no matter what. Don’t be discouraged that right now you are in the “pits”, grow from all that is around you and ask Him for His grace and mercy to get to the other side because you just never know when your day will come to go from that pit to the palace.

Quote:
“Courage doesn’t always roar, sometimes it is that quiet voice at the end of the day that says, ‘I will try again tomorrow’.”
