Proverbs 31:21-22
She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.

Ladies, (okay, you men need to think about this too) drop what you are doing for just a moment and think…… when is the last time you did something to just bless yourself and take care of yourself?

It is easy to get caught up in taking care of your household and working at your job and trying to juggle everything that comes your way, but don’t lose yourself in it. I have to remind myself all of the time to try to do something for myself to take care of myself. We used have 8 people living in this house due to adult children with families moving back into the area, trying to get settled and find a place of their own. There was a 4 year old, 5 year old, a 9 year old, a 18 year old, a 26 year old, 29 year old and well…… in light of their ages you would never believe how young Bill and I are! Yeah, right….. anyhow, it was very busy around here and I still had all of my usual and unusual every day things to do, it was easy to get caught up in the stress and forget to even just take time to relax! “Relax?” you say….. “what is that?” Well if you have forgotten too then it is time to set aside some you time!

The only way to be a good Mom, Wife, Employee or friend is for you to take care of you! Maybe you are single and you are thinking that I am just talking to married people right now, but that is clearly not the case! I know some single women who have crazy busy schedules too and they still struggle with the same issue with finding time to truly do something for themselves! You owe it to yourself and those around you to take care of yourself in order to be the best you that you can be.

If you want to be able to truly fulfill the call of God on your life then it takes taking care of yourself. I am speaking to myself as well as anyone here right now! I find it very difficult to take the time to take care of myself sometimes! I have caught myself even going to the grocery store and forgetting to put any make up on! Good grief! What is up with that? I remember an old preacher once saying, “ladies, if the barn needs painting…. Paint it!” His comment was directed toward married women because he was preaching on marriage and keeping the ‘spark’ alive in your relationship, but you need to do it for yourself as well. I am much more confident if I feel I look good than when I feel like I look like I just crawled out from under a rock!

Ask yourself today, what do I need to do for me? It may be something as simple as taking some time tonight and lighting some candles in the bathroom and taking a nice warm, quiet bath. Maybe you need to sit down and read a good book (Lynette Eason has some amazing fiction books out there that you can hardly put down once you pick them up!) If you have children, tell your husband that you just need a half hour to yourself. If you are a husband, it may serve you well to go home this evening and suggest this yourself, you could be amazed at the brownie points you rack up!! (There’s nothing more pleasant than a relaxed, happy wife!) Whatever it is that you need to do, do it soon, stop putting it off telling yourself that you don’t have time, you need to do all you can do to be all you can be for God and that includes doing something for yourself!
