“Then You Will Know That I Am The Lord”

Isaiah 49:23
“Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.”

Ezekiel 7:4
“And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity, but I will punish you for your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
Over and over and over as I read the Old Testament I see these words, “Then you will know that I am the Lord!” God wanted Israel to know them and He wants us to know Him and He has gone to great lengths to make that happen, sometimes with blessing because they followed Him and other times discipline because of their rebellion.

God sent His son to die for our sin ~ I would say that He went beyond and above for us to understand that He is The Lord Our God! He doesn’t stop there though, He continues to show us His love and His grace on a daily basis. God doesn’t want anyone to die in their sin and He is going to great lengths to reach people. I have heard missionaries tell of testimonies of people they have tried to reach that have come to them telling them of visions of God coming to them and proving that He is the one and only true God and how lives have been changed by God Himself revealing Himself to them. I think the biggest problem in America today is that we have grown so comfortable that a lot of people don’t see the need for God in their lives, they don’t realize that “every good and perfect gift is from above.” Parents and grandparents for generations have missed out on reminding the children of all God has done. That is why God told the Israelites, “You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in you heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 11: 18-19. We have taken it out of our schools and have allowed every teaching known to man to come in so when foreigners have come they have missed knowing about Him.

Yes, we live in a day of “Grace” but that doesn’t mean that God isn’t going to go to great lengths to get your attention! How do you want to acknowledge that “He is the Lord”? How do you want your children and grandchildren, relatives and friends to recognize that He is the Lord? Do you want Him to reveal Himself according to your obedience or your rebellion. Grace doesn’t mean that we can live any way we choose, there are still consequences for sin, that is why God doesn’t want you to sin! Pretty simple really! Hebrews 12:6 says, “because the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastens everyone He accepts as His son.”

Now, I do want to throw in this note as well; just because you struggle in life at times, it doesn’t always mean you are being disciplined, sometimes it is just life, but in your heart you know the difference. No matter which one it is though, you can know that if you will just turn to Him and trust Him to, He will see you through to the other side! The best is yet to come!
