Throw Your Heart Over the Fence and The Rest Will Follow

Colossians 3:17   “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father though Him.”

There are no menial tasks if you are truly doing them for the Lord.  Whether it is staying at home and being a good Mom and wife or you are serving in your church, maybe you clean the church or you are a greeter.  Whatever you do whether it is at home or on the job or at church if you are doing it with the attitude that you are doing if for God and you are doing your best, you can know it brings a smile to His face as He watches you.

How much better would our marriages be if we were all (not just your spouse) giving all we would give to them as if we were actually serving Jesus? How much better would a business operate if all of it’s christian employees were acting as though they were hired and supervised by God Himself?  What would you act like as a Mom if your child was Jesus?  How much better would we serve the poor or our neighbors if we could see the project or task as something we were doing directly to Jesus?

Pour your heart into whatever it is you are doing and thank God for the opportunity today to be able to do it!  Don’t wait for the holidays to do something special for someone else ask God to show you opportunities to serve Him in some way today!

Now, this verse says in Word or Deed, so what about your words?  How would you speak to those around you if you looked at it as though Jesus is standing right there listening too?  Well, guess what – He is!  What do you say at times that makes Him just want to go to the other room until you are done?  What words do you say to your spouse and children that make Him cringe?

I would encourage you today to ask God to show you where you are missing out on this and ask Him to give you the strength to change it.  God loves you and He wants His love to flow through you to those around you.  Start today by consciously thinking about the attitude you have in all that you do and just ask Him to help you in every area you may be struggling in.
