Galatians 5:1
For freedom Christ has set us free, stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

Paul was trying once again to explain that the Jews were not under the law, that their salvation was from the Lord. Jesus paid the price for our sin, sacrifices and circumcision were no longer necessary, Jesus was the sacrifice. We live under grace and we don’t have to perform all of the rituals that the Jews used to have to do in order to have our sins forgiven.

Too many Christians run so far with that verse and seem to miss everything else Paul said. Freedom in Christ does not give us a license to sin or to live just any way we please. He also made it clear that we are not to be slaves to sin; Galatians 5:13, “For you were called to freedom, brothers, Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh,” To truly be free in Christ means you are free from your sin by the grace of God when you accept Him as your Savior and as you continue in Him asking for forgiveness when you sin. It is having freedom from the sin that has held you back for years. It is the freedom of having victory over addictions and struggles because of the power of God living in you! He wants you to have victory and He wants you to serve Him out of love and obedience toward Him, not because of rules and rituals When you truly love Him, you will want to be more like Him. You will want to walk, talk and dress in a way that reflects Him. That is the relationship and freedom He wants for you!

True freedom and blessing come from having a close walk with Him. Don’t use that freedom to sell yourself into a life of slavery to sin. Choose today to walk in the freedom He is offering and live the life you are called to live in Him. The best is yet to come!
