What Are You Worried About?

Jeremiah 17:5-8  Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.  He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come.  He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.  Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.  He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out it’s roots by the stream, and does not fear when heart comes, for it’s leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

I will be the first to admit that I have to make a conscious effort to trust in God for everything especially when I am stressed, it is hard to just let go sometimes but these verses are very clear that we miss out on God’s blessing when we trust in any thing other than HIm!  The last thing I want to do is miss out on God’s blessing and guidance by looking for answers elsewhere!

I have to confess that even yesterday as I was praying and praising and thanking God for who He is and for His power in our lives, I prayed that God would give me wisdom and strength for the day.  Then I prayed and thanked Him for being able and willing to take care of our overwhelming circumstances and asked Him to help me not to worry but to just trust Him and then….. I asked Him to give me discernment to know when I have a situation that I really should worry about!  Really?!  Did I just say that?  I then heard this still small voice say, “yes Janet, do you really think there is a situation that will come along that I will have to tell you I can’t handle and you better worry because I am not too sure how that will turn out over there.”  I laughed so hard I about cried at my own foolishness and yet I know that even if we don’t all speak that out loud there are still times we all say the same thing to God in one way or another.

What is it that you are not totally giving to God?  Is there something that is consuming you with worry that you feel you somehow have to hold onto in order for it to turn out right?  Don’t stress over things that are better off handled by God!  God loves you and wants what is best and even if you can’t see what that is right now you can trust Him!  Life is full of craziness at times and the only way to have true success in life is to give it all to Him!
