What Do You Want From Me God……

by | Apr 23, 2020

Jeremiah 29:12-13  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

When your heart is weary and you’ve done everything you know to do, or you need an answer and you have prayed and prayed until you just don’t know what to pray, then what?  When you know that what you are praying for is within the will of God and lines up with Scripture, but nothing seems to be happening, then what?  When you feel that you are absolutely at the end of your rope and just can’t take His silence anymore, then what?

I have found that when that is where I am people start stepping up to ask questions.  Did you make sure you said this?  Are you sure there isn’t unforgiveness in your life?  Are you sure?  Are you sure?  Are you sure?  There seem to be a million hoops that can be drawn up that you must jump through according to so many people that there is just no way anyone will ever hear from God or get a prayer answered if that were true.  Our answers to prayer are not determined by our righteousness, but by His!  Yes, we must make sure that we are not harboring sin or unforgiveness in our hearts, but we need to be careful not to get legalistic about what seems to be God’s silence or delay.   So I asked God, “what do you want from us?” And in my heart, I heard Him say, “your faith and trust in me.  Trust me in the silence and delays knowing that ‘I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’  I want your faith in Me.”

When you read the Old Testament were the Israelites behaving perfectly when they would turn to God and He would answer them?  No.  When you read the New Testament and people were being healed by Jesus, did He give them a list of things that He could see that weren’t quite perfect enough for them to be healed?  Were there more “works” that needed to be done by people in the Word of God in order for God to move in their lives other than believing in Him and His righteousness?  Yes, we are to ask for His forgiveness and we should love Him enough to not be living in sin and we should forgive others if we want to be forgiven by God, but let’s not create more rules, let’s put our faith in who He is because it is all about Him!  I know people who were newly saved that received miraculous answers to prayer because they didn’t know any of our “rules”, they just read the Word of God and took God at His Word.  How would you explain that with all of our “rules”?  There’s book after book out there with “make sure you pray this way”, “make sure you are doing this” but the first place we need to go is God’s Word and we need to take His Word to heart and allow it to help us to grow in faith in Him!  The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  There you go!  Seek Him and His face and then wait on Him knowing He’s got you!

We must cling to Him and trust Him when everything else seems to be falling apart in our lives.  Of course, we must get our hearts right with Him, ask Him to create a clean heart and a right spirit in you every morning!  We must trust that He sees and He cares and He is the God who heals, the God who vindicates rescues and restores.  He knows you by name!  He wants to use you and your story for His glory!  He is moving even when you can’t see it!  He is not a man that He should lie, cling to His Word, pray for His guidance and comfort.  Open your heart and mind to all that He wants to tell you and stop looking for someone else to give you His answer. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a time a place for godly counsel but there’s also a time and place to just seek His face.  He wants a close relationship with you and He wants you to continue to seek Him and get to know Him.  He will show up!  He always does.  This didn’t come to stay, it came to pass!  Rise up and hold your head up high knowing that your God sees and He loves you.  You are His and He wants to show up mighty in your life so remain faithful to Him and trust His heart!  His best is yet to come!

Good Morning, Janet. Thank you for today’s post. Such truth. To be reminded that I do not need to read another book or get more instructions on how to pray but just to pray has refreshed my desire to go to my Father in Heaven and talk to Him without having to be perfect and ‘doing everything right’ to get His answer. He knows me. He knows my heart. I read His Word. I know His heart. Thank you that today I am – again – reminded that I can go to Him Just as I am. May God bless you! (4/23/2020) Patsy
