Whose Example Are You Following?

2 Timothy 1:13  “Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

What example are you following?  Are your words and attitudes like the love and faith that is in Christ Jesus, in fact would you use the same words and attitudes with the people around you if Jesus were standing by your side?  Oh yeah, that’s right – He is!  We just so easily forget some times because we are so used to our own ways and have not developed His attitude in our lives enough to walk in His attitude like we are called to do.

Stop for a moment and ask yourself if what you say is pleasing to God when He hears it?  Is He proud of your convictions or does He want to vomit when He sees your convictions are only seen when you think someone “important” is watching?  If you are feeling as though your convictions are weak and you are struggling with your attitudes especially in private then ask Him for His strength and for Him to flood you with conviction when you are out of line.  Remember that what comes out of our mouths is a true picture of what is in our hearts.  Take the time to renew your heart and mind today, allow Him to lift the weight that is dragging you down.  Give Him all of your hurts and frustrations because usually it begins there.  A broken heart is often the beginning of angry or frustrated heart and the only way to heal is to give it all to Him!

Follow Christ’s example – stop looking at everyone around you!  It doesn’t matter what someone else is doing because you will only answer for you!  You won’t be able to stand before God some day and blame anyone else for your behaviors because we are called to follow Him and imitate Him on every level.  God gave us the perfect example so there is no reason to look around at the people around us, they will fail you because they are human – none of us will be perfect until we are in Heaven with Him!
