1 Thessalonians 5: 16-22
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything and hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.

There is a lot packed into these verses. In fact, usually it seems as though they are usually each addressed individually ~ Rejoice Evermore ~ Pray without ceasing ~ Give Thanks……., but today, let’s look at them all together for a moment:

Your focus in life will determine your success in every aspect of it! If you are focusing on rejoicing and praying, allowing the Holy Spirit to work in your life on every level without reserve, then you will be less likely to struggle with those pesky sins that taunt you! I am not saying any of us will be “without” sin, before we get to heaven, I am saying you can have victory in those areas you have never thought you could!

If you are focused on God and others, think of how less likely you would be to sin against someone else. If you are consumed with self and what you are entitled to, then you have left the door wide open for Satan to just walk in, haven’t you. The root of sin seems to often come from that thought that you deserve something you don’t have, or aren’t getting! If you don’t think you are “entitled” to something you aren’t getting from your spouse, then the thoughts of cheating wouldn’t have their way. There would be no reason to seek anything other than the wellbeing of your relationship at home. You would pursue God’s answers, rather than cheating. If you are focused on God, there would be no reason to think that you deserve something enough to steal it. If you are focused on God and seek Him, He has promised to deliver you from addictions. If you choose Him and you rejoice over who He is and pray to Him with your whole heart, holding nothing back from the Holy Spirit in your life and you hold on to what is good and abstain from evil, you can and will find victory in your life! “Entitlement” will destroy you and will keep you from being all you can be for Him! “Entitlement” destroys relationships! “Entitlement” will destroy your walk with God!

Choose today what you will focus on! Your focus will determine where you are headed in life! If you have been living a life filled with what you have felt you are “entitled” to, make things right with those you have sinned against! There is no peace in your life if you are covering sin, because the fact, that you know it will one day be revealed, will haunt you and you are more likely to continue to lose the battle with it. Find an accountability partner, confess your sin and allow God to work in your life to help you to be all He has created you to be! He loves you and wants His best for you so focus on Him! The best is yet to come!

1 John 1:7
If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His son, cleanses us from all sin!
